General description of the collection: The Edward L. Hooper papers include diaries covering his service with the 31st Regiment in the Philippines and the 76th Division in Connecticut, 1929-1931. Orders, assignments, promotions, commissions, and other miscellaneous official papers covering his career, 1900-1936, are also available. There are numerous clippings, often obituaries, on residents in and around Cape Ann, Massachusetts. Among them are letters and reminiscences of Civil War veterans of the U.S.S. CLIFTON and the 23rd, 32nd, and especially 35th Massachusetts Infantry Regiments, 1862-1865.
